Hello January, Bearer of Clean Slates and Brave Beginnings
Welcome Back Team!
Welcome to a brand-new year filled with opportunities, growth, and inspiration! As we step into January, we reflect on the incredible work you’ve already accomplished and the bright potential that lies ahead. The start of the year is a time to reset, refocus, and renew our shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of our students.
This month, let’s embrace the power of fresh beginnings—whether it’s introducing new ideas, reigniting our passion for teaching, or simply recommitting to the small, daily acts that create a lasting impact. Together, we’ll continue to nurture not just minds but hearts, fostering safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environments.
As a way to strengthen our communication and collaboration and continue to strengthen our teaching practices, I am looking forward to sharing a monthly newsletter at the start of each month. Inside this issue you will find resources, tips, and inspirations to jumpstart the second half of the year. Let's make this year's journey one of collaboration, creativity and connection.
Here’s to a fantastic start to 2025! Thank you for your unwavering dedication and the heart you bring to everything you do.
Warm Regards,
Paige
As we begin the new year, many of you will welcome new members into your community. Preparing to welcome new students into your classroom is an opportunity to create a special and transformative experience—for both you and the students.
For new students, stepping into a new classroom brings the excitement of learning, growth, and building new connections. At the same time, it can also bring feelings of uncertainty as they navigate unfamiliar routines, peer relationships, and expectations.
The resources below were specifically developed for the transition of our toddlers into Children's House. I’ve created these resources to help you approach these moments with purpose and meaning, ensuring a smooth and welcoming start for everyone.
Click on the picture above to access the guide: Toddler Transitions-Understanding 3 Key Behavioral Profiles. This guide is designed to help you recognize key patterns often seen in toddlers transitioning to CH. This resource includes recommendations on ways to respond that promote growth, confidence, and connection. Whether the toddler is bold and adventurous, reserved and cautious, or somewhere in between, this handout offers practical insights to meet them where they are and recommendations on how to prepare yourself and your environment to receive these unique children into your community.
Big transitions often bring big emotions for all children in our YCC-CH communities. As the young members of your community transition back to school, it’s natural to see heightened emotions surface. You might notice regression in children who had previously adapted well to your class before the break or observe new emotional behaviors in children you didn’t expect. This is all a normal part of a young child’s journey of self-construction. To help you navigate these emotional waves across both YCC and CH, the attached resource introduces a "connect and redirect" technique. Click the picture above to access the resource.
